With the rapid development of society, people’s requirements for skincare packaging boxes are getting higher and higher, requiring not only high-grade and exquisite skincare packaging boxes but also their environmental performance and personal appearance. After-printing processing not only enhances the artistic effect and added value of your products while meeting the needs of consumers at different levels, but it is also an important production process to ensure the quality of the skincare packaging box.
I will share the commonly used surface finishes for skincare packaging boxes in this article for reference.
Lamination is a transparent plastic film through the hot press laminated to the surface of the printing sheet, not only to increase the role of gloss, making the skincare packaging box pattern more vivid, and play a waterproof, stain-proof role, commonly used in high-quality beauty product packaging carton boxes.
Commonly known as “hot stamping,” it is the need for hot stamping patterns or text made of convex. With a certain pressure and temperature, the hot stamping foil transferred to the substrate shows an intense metallic light, so the product packaging box has a high-grade texture. At the same time, because of its excellent physical and chemical properties, aluminum foil can play a role in protecting printed box surfaces.
Varnishing is a colorless transparent coating applied to the surface of a skincare packaging box, which forms a thin and uniform transparent oil layer on the surface of the printed matter after leveling, drying, calendering, and curing, thereby enhancing the smoothness of the surface of the substrate and protecting the surface finishing process of the skincare packaging box.
Embossing is a unique technique for surface finishes for the skincare packaging box. It uses a concave and convex mold, under a certain pressure, so that the print substrate plastic deforms, and then the surface of the printed matter for artistic processing. The embossed graphics and patterns show different shades of designs and have an obvious sense of relief, increasing the printed matter’s three-dimensionality and artistic impact.
Spot UV process can be realized by screen printing or flexo printing process. It is a kind of surface finishing process for printed skincare packaging boxes, which enhances the dazzling effect of printed boxes by coating spot UV varnish on the graphics of the packaging box surface.
The dull polish process requires several special primers or varnish treatments to complete. Some call it the reverse varnishing process and regard it as a new process of partial varnishing. The process is to print in accordance with the normal color sequence after printing, in ink, thoroughly dry or cured based on the use of an offset printing line (or offline) in a way that does not need to highlight the high brightness of the local area printed on a layer of special primer, to be a completely dry primer and then coated with UV varnish on the entire surface of the printed skincare packaging box in a full-page way.
